A Kitchen and Family Room Remodelled for a Family of Four

To serve this family of 4, the stairs were removed to connect the kitchen with the family room and back deck, while maintaining adjacency to the formal dining area. Circulation was designed for access to three of the kitchen’s four corners, eliminating dead zones and maximizing efficiency and flow. Not an inch is lost with every nook converted to functional space.

Kitchen workflow facilitates activities from the pantry and cold storage, through cooking to cleaning. The central island facilitates quick meals and entertaining.

Customized shaker-style cabinets are factory-painted to match trims and built-ins throughout the house. The kitchen also features soft-closing, full-extension drawers. Quartz countertops are perfectly scribed and meet an oriental white marble backsplash that fills the kitchen backdrop. Radiant heat is integrated into the toe-kick of the island, a potfiller complements the Thermador range, and the floors are a dark-stained African oak. Light dimmers, energy saving appliances, and reclaimed furniture were used.
