Together with Co-Director, Laurel James, Angelito began Novell Design Build in 2005 and is our Principal Site Supervisor and General Contractor.
With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Angelito brings solid expertise and an incredible depth of knowledge to every project. His entire career has been focused on building and renovating homes. He started out as a Former & Framer working with Fercon Home Builders, as well as learning from his father, who is also a General Contractor. Ask him his greatest accomplishments and he’ll tell you that every house and every project has been as uniquely satisfying as the next. Angelito’s core values focus on delivering professional, honest and purposeful services to his clients.
Angelito loves basketball and kung fu films, and spends his spare time building, innovating with tools, and creating projects with his family at home.
Laurel James | BID, LEED AP
Director & Principal Designer
As Co-Director of Novell, Laurel brings extensive professional expertise in home design, interior design and project management, amounting to over 20 years of experience in the field. She is a passionate designer, an effective communicator, and loves to discover new ways of delivering truly customized solutions that are design-build and user-focused.
Laurel holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Manitoba and is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional. Prior to Novell, Laurel’s resume includes Senior Designer & Project Manager at AldrichPears Associates, SmartDesign Group and ADI Designworks. In addition to her experience in residential projects, Laurel has also managed numerous commercial projects for clients such as Fairmont Hotel & Resorts, Evergreen, and Denver International Airport. Other notable achievements include grant-winning research that encouraged the conversion of historic warehouse space into mixed-use buildings in Winnipeg’s Exchange District.
When she’s not working she enjoys cooking, travelling and undertaking art projects with her kids.
Working closely with site, Aman coordinates and drives construction projects by planning, organizing, and facilitating projects as they progress, driving the schedule along the way. Aman’s communication skills and problem solving approach serve him well as he acts as a key link between design and construction, managing time and budget alongside the successful implementation of exemplary design.
Aman plays golf in the summers, beer league hockey in the winters, and loves travelling whenever possible!
Maya Pezzente | DID
Maya uses her practical skills and previous work in interior design for all of the projects at Novell. Her responsibilities include concept development, design direction and interior design drawings & schematics. Maya received her Diploma of Technology in interior design from BCIT and moved on to work for multiple design firms in the lower mainland. She worked on a wide range of projects over the years, but residential work is her passion.
In her free time, Maya enjoys cooking, exploring BC and devouring anything interior decor.
Arman Gill | DIPL.ARCH.TECH
Driven by his passion for construction and architecture, Arman produces our CAD building permit and construction drawings, along with problem solving the building science within. His creative contributions extend into our design work and estimating. Arman finished his formal education as an Architectural technologist at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary.
In his spare time, Arman enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, and travelling, especially exploring BC.
Stephi brings over 8 years of maintenance experience in the hotel sector and 10 years of renovation and building experience. She joins Angelito our General Contractor & Co-Owner undertaking expert finishing & warranty servicing, adding all that attention to detail to finish the job to the exacting standards we demand.
Her career began with a diploma in hotel and restaurant management, but quickly shifted from front of house to back early on as she realized she had more of a passion to learn and do hands-on work instead.
In her leisure time Stephi’s hobbies are swimming, cycling, camping, and going to concerts.
