A Yaletown home remodelled to perfection

This condominium remodel reorganized its old layout for modern living, complete with a light filled open kitchen, rich hardwood finishing, and customizations at every turn.

We gutted the entire apartment, relocated the kitchen, and converted the space to suit the specific lifestyle and needs of the homeowners.

It features wrap-around full height millwork with integrated appliances that help to define the space, provide a clean rich wood backdrop, and maximize storage space.

There’s a resurgence – “a nostalgia, if you will” – of traditional kitchens with built-in nooks – perfect for curling up with your morning cup of coffee. “We are renovating a kitchen to accommodate a multi-generational family, complete with a nook, fireplace and a big, stretched-out farm table to gather everyone together.”

James is seeing a trend of different seating arrangements in the kitchen to encourage family interaction – it can be various height seating, a prep island and children’s island.

Warm metals are big – brass, gold, bronze in reflective or hammered styles

Cast iron, slipper or claw foot freestanding tubs are hugely popular. “Again, it speaks to nostalgia, an emotive connection to heart.”

There’s no slowing down on the demand for walls painted in deep tones of blues and greens.

Wall coverings are in vogue in a big way. “Whether they are murals, large scale photography or emotive designs.”

Screens and shutters are very popular, “As we blur the line between inside and outside they offer shade control and sun control.”

This advice was published ahead of the GVHBA Spring Home Reno Show at Van Dusen Gardens that we recently exhibited at. It was a great sunny day and well attended by so many homeowners looking for more information on forthcoming projects.

“The Vancouver and North Vancouver Home Reno Shows feature different renovation experts that work in these respective communities, so you can be confident these companies have the experience working in these local neighbourhoods and understand the unique building requirements,” says Bob de Wit, the CEO of the GVHBA.

Laurel also held a well attended seminar at this GVHBA Spring Home Reno show, “The Tailored Laneway – Meaningful Design & Build,” sharing her wisdom & thoughtful advice on the subject.

BC Home + Garden – Post Show Review

  • By novelladmin

BC Home + Garden show at BC Place, February 17-21st 2016

Thank you to everyone who came and visited us at our best show to date! We are overwhelmed by the response and looking forward to a busy time ahead.

For this year show, we wanted to bring the outside inside. Invoke a feeling of new life, new growth and toying with the idea that we build from the ground up. We wanted to create a centerpiece that looked attractive but also had some meaning to it.

We really liked the idea of being able to see the roots of the flowers; which is subtly symbolic for the solid foundations we build upon for our projects.

Then, we went to pick up our beautiful spring themed flowers and then we got our hands dirty!

We were delighted to receive so many kind compliments over the weekend.

We also branched out and took a bigger booth at this show, it gave us room to spread our walls and open up to so many new, old and furry faces.

Again, we were visited by the Event Planning & Marketing Students from BCIT, who evaluated our booth and once again gave us top marks!

Vancouver Home & Design Show – BC Home & Garden Show

  • By novelladmin

With a little under a month to go until we exhibit again at the huge BC Home + Garden Show at BC Place, we thought we’d do a little pre/post view of the Vancouver Home + Design Show from last Autumn.

As with everything we’ll start at the beginning – a few shots of Angelito during the pre-show set up!

For this show we had beautiful re-usable bags printed especially for visitors to our stand at the show. We all know what its like you when you go to these events, so many little bits of paper, brochures, business cards, so we thoughts we’d give you a handy reusable bag with the most important details printed on the outside – OURS! They’re also useful post show for that spare pair of shoes you take to the office, your lunch box or as Lauren our Adminitrative Coordinator uses hers – The Yaletown Farmers Market!

One of the reasons we love to exhibit at the shows is the the opportunity to meet new clients, hang out with current clients and catch up with old friends. We also had the BCIT marketing group stop buy to compliment us on our booth!

Finally, we are delighted to be awarded the Vancouver Home + Design Show – “Going the Extra Mile” award 2015. The gorgeous glass trophy now sits in pride of place in our office amongst our other accreditations.

BC Home + Garden Show  BC Place Stadium, Vancouver February 17-21.
